Ethics Personal Assessments
Summary
When studying many subject or matter in life, knowing the basics of how it works are
extremely important. It will help mold and build overall familiarization with your specialty or
specific craft. While taking this course of Business Ethics, it is defined as the study of standards
of business behavior that promote human welfare and the good (Ferrell & Fraedrich, 2018). In
many life scenarios, we must always come to a stopping point to evaluate ourselves. It can help
correct the deficiencies that we have in life, improve our rapport with our family members and can
also improve the atmosphere with our work/business environment. During week one, we had to
complete three ethics personal assessments. The ethics personal assessments are intended for your
personal use to assist you in thinking about your ethics-related leadership and actions. They can
help you identify those areas in which you are on strong ethical ground; areas that you may wish
to examine the basis for your responses; and opportunities for further reflection (ACHE, 2020).
After conducting the three ethics personal assessments, I noticed how it really demonstrates
the why in business ethics. If you are giving assessments, you should really be familiar with the
assessment’s manual and psychometrics. In order to properly conduct the assessment after it is
scored, you must interpret its results, effectively communicate those results and understand their
impact you must know a lot of information about the assessment.
The assessments demonstrated the important to practice within my competence. It is
extremely important to make sure you are using an instrument correctly, and knowing how the
assessment results can be used/to include a diagnosis etc. These assessments are great because it
really goes into detail on what each condition means which really expands on the written code of

ethics. I think sometimes it is easy to take certain things for granted, like the simplicity of an
instrument. However, it is important to know your instruments and the reliability/validity behind
them. To include all facets surrounding the appropriateness of that assessment for that client,
organization or current situation.
The biggest struggle I find with ethics is, whose values take precedence. Naturally, we are
predisposed towards our own perspectives and these act as a filter, even when we try to be
unbiased. I like that you foreground that at the core of the ethical process, whilst rationally
requiring a selection of a direction to take, is motivated by care and deep reflection. The more I
look into my assessment results, the more the realization comes that there is no simple, right or
clear pathway; that the path of least resistance may be a poor route in the long term; and that the
best one can do is choose the ‘ethically better’ path following a careful and reasoned decision
process. Knowledge in cultural awareness and the selection of assessments, evaluation and
interpretation is vital and should be ongoing (Ferrell & Fraedrich, 2018). These assessments were
also a great accompaniment to this weeks reading material.
