1.0 Background
Straw power technology is my main research topic for this course. Straw power basically is
burning straw create energy that can be generated into electricity. It works similar to fossil fuel
plants in the function area but much greener in varies way.
First, straw power is 100% renewable resources compare to traditional fossil fuel plants. The
straw plant is nature and renewable, unlike fossil fuel plant burning coal generate power. Straw
plants burning straw for power. Straw is a bio-product that commonly come from farm (food
producing/ growing industry). Straw that already been used in many areas such like furniture
material (mostly used as filler materials) and feed-products (fodder for cows pigs etc.). In this
case, straw will be used as fuel for the power plant.
Secondly straw power plants are already existed for a period of time. In China German Denmark
and many other countries that already using the straw power plant for electricity. Countries like
China using straw power plants because it brings many advantage points compare to other power
plants. Straw is coproduct in food growing process, In China many crops such like wheat and
rice will producing straw during the growing process. China is a huge population country which
demand a huge number of rice and wheat which by-product the straw also in a huge amount
number. The straw power plant solving both electricity power demand and huge number of straw
no where to go.
Burning straw and generate power is the main idea of this project. The burning technology for
straw is also a important part in this project. Fuel based power plants face the same disadvantage
on emissions whether the fuel is coal or straw. Straw has low ash melting point compare to other
fuel plants. It commonly reaches the melting point around 700-750 °C. This is advantage point
that could bring straw plant to achieve eco-friendly during the technology’s update in the future.

The topic of straw power technology is not a popular topic compare to hydro-power plants or
solar power plants. Straw power plants will not be suitable for some of countries which
agriculture is not there main thing. Straw power plants will be a decent solution for countries like
China which have large scale of farming industry and huge demand for food and power.

2.0 Proposed Project
In this project: Straw power technology, I will roughly divide the project into 4 phrases that I
will research and present on after another.
1) Straw power plant and straw power technology’s background. In this phrase, I will mostly do
the research on current straw power plant and current straw power technology that already
been used in the field. Also, I will present a decent background knowledge on straw power as
well.
2) Advantage and Disadvantage on straw power. Straw power is a natural and renewable power
resources, I will do research on both the advantage part and disadvantage part. After research
I will do the analysis base on the research and data I collect for the straw power and
technology. In this phrase I will come up with a conclusion whether straw power is a good
choice as power plant or not base on the research and analysis.
3) Straw power technology part. In this part I will do the research mainly focus on the straw
power technology. How this power plants work, how many types of the straw power
generation currently been used currently. Also, I will research and describe all the main part
of the straw power plant start from straw store house all the way to the Ash disposal.
4) In the last phrase, I will present a conclusion on the straw power and technology. Base on the
research data and analysis I do in the previous phrases, I will come up with a conclusion for
this topic and I will also list the present future possible for straw power plants.
