I don’t understand this English question and need help to study.
Part 1: Describe your assumptions regarding arguing successfully. In roughly 200 words, explain what you believe makes a good argument. This is not something I’m asking you to research or provide any outside information for; answer on a personal basis, even if you haven’t given it much thought. What persuades you? Again, the goal is to have you reflect on what your assumptions are, so please don’t worry about finding the “right” answer—this project is about you outlining what you already believe about arguing. While your work should be free of major grammar errors, I will not be marking students down for errors (which is not the case for papers), so feel free to write this informally.
Part 2: What is the main message of the advertisement? Choose some type of advertisement—television commercial, newspaper ad, etc.—and describe what it is trying to convince customers of. Provide me with some sort of link to the ad; copying and pasting a website address is perfectly fine. This should be around 100 words.
Part 3: Offer a reading of the advertisement in the context of our conversations around rhetoric. In roughly 200 words, describe what is happening rhetorically. Who is the audience? How is the author/creator trying to persuade them? What rhetorical strategies are used in the ad?
As we discussed in class, keep in mind that there is no one right answer. It’s important to remember there are many rhetorical elements and movements that are happening at the same time in a text. For example, while an ad may be appealing to the audience’s emotions, it may also point out the logic of their position.
