Purpose
You will write a thesis-driven, researched argument based on a novel, series of shorter fictional works, memoir, or series of theoretical works by an author, critic or influencer listed on our class page, or anyone covered in our class materials. It is up to you to determine the direction of your research. Use the many resources around you: me, your classmates, the library and librarians, etc. Choose a topic interesting enough to keep you going through 10 pages, 10 sources, and a month of work, but remember that you are primarily making an argument, and your essay should only be informative as it serves your larger argument.
A list of authors in our class we’ve discussed: Zora Neal Hurston, Langston hughes, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, James
