BIO 102 CSU Chico Infection Diagnosis Treatment and Prevention of HIV AIDS Research Paper For the final paper (due Tuesday , May 5): this should be a formal synthesis of the information from the outline in 800-1000 words with in-text citations and a works cited page at the end. Some of the information from the outline will be easy to rearrange to look like a paper, but this won’t always be the case! For example, the outline asks for symptoms and long term-side effects — this is often a bullet-point list on the outline. Below is an example of how this would look differently in the paper:

Outline:

Symptoms of COVID-19 (CDC, 2020):

Paper:

Severity of symptoms for COVID-19 may vary, but often include a dry cough, fatigue and a fever (CDC, 2020).

The paper should NOT be formatted exactly like the outline — what information makes the most sense to include in the same paragraph? How is your paper going to be organized? What is the clearest way to present this information in a paper?

The grading rubric has been adjusted and is listed below. I’ll also add this information to the instructions on Blackboard. It’s based on the rubric for the presentation on pages 141-142 in your manual, also added to the instructions.

Subject knowledge (15 pts): still valid for paper
Organization (6 pts): still valid for paper, but without focus on visual components. Presented = written, so “presented logically and interestingly” = “written logically and interestingly”
Mechanics (6 pts): still valid for paper, focus is on grammatical errors and misspellings.
Citations (3pts): still valid for paper

Your outline will be graded by May 1, giving you an opportunity to make corrections before writing your final paper. Good luck!
