What the bibliography should include:
Select 5 sources relevant to the topic you have selected
throughout the course. You can use sources from the
worksheets you have completed on various information
sources. Include your topic and thesis statement at the top of
the bibliography.
Include the following sources:
| 1 book source
| 2 articles using the library’s Academic Search Premier
database. The articles can be from academic journals,
magazines or newspapers, and in any combination of these. You
may use a library database other than Academic Search Premier
for one of your articles.
1 reference source (print or online) OR 1 media source
| 1 credible web site
What each annotation should include:
Select either the APA or MLA citation style. Be sure to include
the appropriate heading: Works Cited (MLA) or Reference List
(APA) at the top of the page, before listing your sources.
Use the MLA citation style OR APA citation style and provide
the complete bibliographic information for each source.
The descriptive annotation for each source will include all of
the following:
o Scope and main purpose of the work.
o Information to explain the authority and/or qualifications of
the author. For example: Dr. William Smith, a history professor
at XYZ University, based his book on twenty years of research.
o Intended audience.
Sample Descriptive Annotation (with some evaluative
elements)
A descriptive annotation describes the content of the work
without judging it. For our purposes it will also include
distinctive features such as the authority of the author and the
intended audience.
London, Herbert. “Five Myths of the Television Age.” Television
Quarterly 10.1 (1982): 81-89. Print. (MLA citation)
Herbert London, the Dean of Journalism at New York University
and author of several books and articles, explains how television
contradicts five commonly believed ideas. He uses specific
examples of events seen on television, such as the assassination

examples of events seen on television, such as the assassination
of John Kennedy, to illustrate his points. His examples have
been selected to contradict such truisms as: "seeing is
believing"; "a picture is worth a thousand words"; and
"satisfaction is its own reward." London uses logical arguments
to support his ideas which are his personal opinion. He doesn't
refer to any previous works on the topic. London's style and
vocabulary would make the article of interest to any reader.
