This article was located from the website of New York Times newspaper and it supports
the case for more immigrants. With its focus on Southern Florida, the article highlights
the central role that immigrants play in the workforce. Cohen argues that unemployment
rates are at their lowest and hence there is an unending demand for more workers. She
utilizes insights from some of the employers in Miami and explains how employers have
benefited immensely from immigrants in the city. Basically, the author uses the views of
employers in the construction, health, hospitality, and technology fields to support the
case for more workers required sustaining growth in those fields. This article is useful in
providing an overview of how immigration connects to industry growth. It will be used in
the paper to support the point that immigrants are essential for economic development in
the country and hence immigration should be encouraged.

This article is an opinion piece by the New York Post journalist supporting Trump’s
sentiments against immigration. The newspaper has traditionally been accused of Right
media bias and hence is largely seen as supporting conservative opinions on political
matters. In this post, McCaughey argues that the country does not need more immigrants
as majority of them depend on welfare and hence burden the country’s support for the
poor. Instead, she argues, the country should focus on feeding the poor within its borders
before it can allow more immigrants who present an extra burden. The main point is that
immigrants who have little to offer and sustain themselves in the country should not be
allowed in the U.S. This article will serve as a support for the counter-argument in the
paper. It will be used to show why immigrants should not be allowed in the country and
how immigration policies should be structured to reduce burden on the public system.

immigrants. Mehta is a renowned author, professor for journalism, and was born in
Calcutta before later living in New York City. As an immigrant, he writes about proimmigration issues and shows why immigrants are important for this country. In this
article, he shows the crucial role immigrants play in the technology industry and how
they have stimulated business in the nation as well. He explains the number of
immigrants in the technology fields and how immigrants have started businesses hence
driving economic growth, especially in tech. This article supports immigration and hence
will be used in the paper to support the economic case for immigrations. It will be used to
justify the need for more immigrants and the roles that they occupy in tech among other

Ethics. This journal basically discusses issues of ethics as they link with business and
business policies. The article was accessed through the ‘free-access’ options available in
journal databases. In this article, the authors present a multiculturalism approach to
immigration and immigrants issues. The authors propose that a multiculturalism
approach, as in Canadian and Australian immigration policies, is effective in promoting
diversity and encouraging immigration which is beneficial to the host country as well as
the home countries for immigrants. The article proposes that immigrants create business
and career links to their home countries and hence they are a source of competitive
advantage by producing a reverse brain flow as opposed to brain drain. This article will
be useful in the paper through its contribution of a model that can be used to promote
immigration. As such, it will be useful in highlighting the ‘multiculturalism’ model and
how it may be used for effective pro-immigration policies.

article presents statistical data about immigration rates and how they have grown in the
last 50 years. The author observes that there has been a constant increase in foreign-born

arguing for any specific side on the immigration debate. The article presents charts which
outline trends and statistics connected to immigration and hence provides a window to

showing the probable benefits of immigration to the labor markets and productivity in the
United States. In the paper, the article will be used to inform about current and previous
trends of immigration and compare them with business and labor market trends.

THESIS: Immigration policies should be adjusted to favor an increase in immigrants because
they stimulate the economy, provide labor for industry growth, and provide a competitive
advantage through the promotion of multiculturalism.
I. Many skilled immigrants promote innovation in technology and hence drive an economic
stimulation of the field.
A. Silicon Valley has experienced great benefits from immigrant tech workers who
are dominating the industry.
B. Immigrants have received many Nobel prices and attained respected positions in
tech companies.
C. Many immigrants bring their skills and talents and hence grow the economy.
II. The United States has many rapidly growing industries needing the labor of immigrants.
A. Immigrants are the backbone of technology, construction, hospitality, and health
industries.
B. There is rapid growth in these industries requiring more labor to sustain growth
and ensure economic growth.
C. Native-born workers cannot satisfy the labor demand since unemployment rates
are very low, despite growth of demand for workers.
III. Immigration supports multicultural exchanges and hence should be encouraged for
mutual growth and development.
