Your paper should have a thesis which should be

1) supportable — with detail, illustration. In regard to a literary work, this most often means quotations, in regard to film, specific descriptions. If you are referencing a film and include screen shots to support verbal descriptions, refer to them by number and include them as an appendix rather than breaking up the text of the paper.

2) arguable (not obvious)

3) meaningful, not trivial, should say something of interest

In general,

1) avoid generalizations, especially in the introduction, which should be brief
