This is a protagonist plot where jealousy and unfaithfulness are the key influencers in the
drama. Othello is married to the senator’s daughter Desdemona secretly, who had been asked for
a hand in marriage by Roderigo. When Roderigo finds out that she is married and won’t be able to
have her by his side when he is carrying out his evil plans, he decides to team up with Iago, a
soldier who also wants to take revenge on Othello for promoting Cassio above him.
Othello suspects his wife when she mistakenly loses the gift he gave her, which is found
by Emila, Iago’s wife. Iago convinces his wife to give him the gift. Later he places the gift in
possession of Cassio and tells Othello that his wife and Cassio are having an affair making Othello
doubt his wife fidelity on him. Bianca, Cassio’s mistress, later accuses Cassio of giving him
second-hand gift. This affirms Othello’s doubt on the purposeful act of infidelity by his wife, thus
deciding to kill his wife. Since Rodrigo’s plan fails, he takes Iago’s advice of eliminating Cassio,
who fortunately survives as Lodovico and Gratiano rescue him.
Iago then decides to secretly stub Roderigo in fear that he might expose his sinister plans, Roderigo
succumbs to the stab. Othello kills his wife in their marital bed as a result of rage from suspected
infidelity, which later on emerges to be false suspicion. Though too late to make a difference,
Emila comes out to reveal Desdemona’s innocence. Othello is unable to handle the guilt after the
revelation by Emila and therefore commits suicide.
Star Wars Revenge of the Sith
Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, is the lead in the operation to save Chancellor Palpatine
from the prison of General Grievous and Lord Sith. These two villains challenge Anakin and Obi-
Wan for battle, but then Grievous escapes during the fight. Padme, Anakin’s wife, reveals that she
is pregnant, which makes Anakin pessimistic that his lovely wife might die during childbearing.
Chancellor Palpatine reveals himself to Anakin as Lord Sidious, later Anakin reports him to Mace,
who then goes intending to arrest Lord Sidious but ends up trying to kill him. In the process,
Anakin swiftly responds by saving Lord Sidious, who later logs Mace to death. Owing to his
support for Lord Sidious, Anakin pledges his loyalty to Lord Sidious. Anakin takes up his first
assignment from his lord, which is to commit killings; he does this without any hesitation. When
Padme (Anakin’s wife) hears about this, she sets to confront Anakin and finds out that it is true.
In the process, Obi-Wan shows up in Padme’s ship stirring Anakin to have the thought that
his wife and mentor are having an affair; Anakin’s rage also compels him to strangle his wife to
death. Obi-Wan gains higher grounds while battling the molten lava, and he cuts off Anakin’s leg
and right arm and let him die; he then tries to rescue his Padme (Anakin’s wife), but he is too late
to make a rescue. Fortunately, Padme delivers twins, Luke and Leia Skywalker.
In comparison to the two drama pilots, the lead characters, both Othello and Anakin, are
two prominent persons who end up killing their wives by mere jealousy and false suspicion.
Synonymously to both stories, the main characters suspect their wives of affairs that don’t exist.
The theme of both dramas is love, envy, and lack of trust. Both characters, Anakin and Othello,
are temperamental and quick to soothe their rage with their spouses’ death. There is also the aspect
of doubted loyalty by the two from their assumed allies, Othello doubting his lieutenant and Anakin
doubting his mentor. Othello kills his wife for the doubt that his wife has an affair with Cassio,
his lieutenant, and Anakin strangles his wife, who is pregnant from the mere fact that his mentor
was on the same ship with her.
The star wars plot Palpatine who is the principal villain is the one that influenced Anakin
to be the evil character as he is the one that makes him commit numerous murders even in the
killing of the younglings. In Othello drama, the two villains Roderigo and Iago are the ones who
make the lead character Othello commit the outrageous character of killing his wife in the plot of
taking revenge against Othello.
In both dramas the heroes come to rescue of the wives of the lead characters for instance
in the play of Othello is Emila who comes forward to tell out that Desdemona was innocent. Iago
had plotted all that to take revenge while in the star wars movie, the hero who rescues Padme is a
mentor to Anakin, who saves the twins after their mother dies. However, their effort to save the
lives of the two ladies proves futile as they are both not in times.
The difference in both plots is that Othello murders out of the guilt that is the result of murdering
his innocent wife while Anakin is killed by Obi-Wan, his mentor who cuts his leg and right arm.
