Link Between Drug Trafficking And Poverty Research Paper A research proposal is an “action plan” for a research project. The objective of this assignment is for you to plan a research project and write a research proposal. The research question to be addressed in the proposal may be the one that you identified for the literature search assignment, or a different one of your choosing. The research proposal will be 5-8 double-spaced pages, not including the list of references, APA style.

This assignment should be completed independently, without speaking with other students or any other person. You may use any print or online resources, in addition to the text, including books, articles and websites. Literature referenced, however, must be scholarly academic literature.

The research proposal should address the questions below (35 points in total):

Research Question and Literature Review (total 10 points):
Clearly state the research question that your proposed study will address (2 point).
Specify the independent and dependent variable(s) (2 points).
State the rationale for your research question. Based on the literature, why is it important for research, practice, or policy, to know the answer to these research questions? What is the evidence from prior research that the independent and dependent variables are related to each other? Include citations from the literature, in APA format. (4 points)
State your research hypotheses, i.e., what do you expect to find? (2 point)
Study Design and Data Collection Plan (total 10 points):
State the type of research design (e.g., cohort study, quasi-experimental) (2 points).
Describe the plan for data collection: when, how (e.g., face-to-face interviews, web-based survey, or case record reviews), and by whom data be collected (4 points).
Describe the methodological strengths and weaknesses of the research design and the data collection plan. Are there any ethical issues related to this design and the data collection plan? Are the study design and data collection plan appropriate and sensitive for the population (by culture, age, etc.) you are studying? (4 points)
Measures (total 6 points):
State the operational definitions of the independent and dependent variables (2 points).
Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the measures (e.g., reliability and validity). Are there any ethical issues related to using these measures for the population you are studying? Are the measures culturally appropriate and sensitive? (4 points)
Sampling Plan (total 9 points):
Describe the target population and the study population (2 points).
Describe how study participants will be selected: Name the sampling plan (e.g., systematic random sample, purposive sample) and state whether it is probability or a non-probability sampling plan?(3 points)
Describe the strengths and weakness of the sampling plan. Are there any ethical issues related to this sampling plan? Is it culturally appropriate and sensitive? (4 points)
