Be sure that you find some recent news story involving Lebanese Christians to focus on for your project (keep
in mind that there are two main groups of Lebanese Christians: Maronite (Catholic) Christians and GreekOrthodox Christians; though there are other Christian communities in Lebanon besides just these like the
Melkites and Protestants).
You’ll then use some academic source you get through the library to shed light on it. (perhaps an article about
the modern history of Christianity in Lebanon or about its “confessional system” of politics where political
power/representation is apportioned based on religious group)
project will consist of a short 5-7 page essay and PowerPoint presentation
The essay should include the following five elements:
1) introduction concluding with a thesis statement wherein you claim what it is that one learns about the chosen
event from your chosen academic source(s) (~150 words or ½ a page)
2) brief summary of the news story/event being analyzed (~300-400 or about 1 page)
3) a brief summary of the relevant points from a source or sources (no more than 3) of your choosing which you
believe sheds light on the news story (~300-500 words or 1-1.5 pages)
4) an analysis of how the academic source(s) sheds light on the news story (~500-700 or 1.5-2.5 pages)
5) Conclusion (~150 words or ½ a page)
