Southern California Life During COVID 19 Pandemic Reflective Essay We are living in historic times. You as a generation have experienced many unique things that may have prepared you for our current situation – 9/11, the Great Recession, Hurricanes Katrina and Maria ( not to mention many other big storms), the opioid crisis, and so on. And now, you are adjusting to a completely new way of life.

Given the adjustments you are making in your daily lives right now, we thought it would be both fair and appropriate to offer some extra credit in Gero 200 (worth 3% of your final grade). We also want to give you some freedom to do the extra credit assignment the way that is most meaningful and easiest for you.

So, what we want you to do is create something that explains a day in your life right now. Tell us what you are thinking about, what your fears are, what joys you are finding in everyday life. How is the Covid-19 situation impacting you and your families? How has your life changed in the past few weeks? How is this impacting your relationships with friends and loved ones? What is the hardest thing, and what do you find surprisingly easy? What else do you want to tell us?

You can write a 1-2 page paper that is meaningful to you and that conveys your experience, in any format that you can send to us. Our hope is that you will create something that when you are older, you can pull out and show your children and grandchildren to explain what your life was like during the COVID-19 pandemic. This extra credit assignment will be due by July 3rd.
