Option A: Write a report (7 pages) about an agency you visited. Local agencies you might visit include: daycare, elder care, counseling centers, family support centers, domestic violence centers, substance abuse rehabilitation programs (AA), group homes, recreation centers, developmental disabilities programs. Start your paper by giving the historical perspective of the agency. How did assistance for this population come to fruition? Include description of agency service and target population , cultural competence skills needed to provide effective service (see Hogan textbook chapters 4 & 5); and what else may be needed to address the needs of future clients. Lastly, include your personal reflections on the agency you visited (give at least three reasons as to why you would/would not work there).
Option B: Write a report on a Human Services website by exploring human services on the internet. After reading several human service websites, choose one to describe in a written report. First, give the historical perspective of the agency. How did assistance for this population come to fruition? Second, describe the services offered and the population it serves ; Third, describe the cultural competence skills needed to provide effective service (see Hogan textbook chapters 4 & 5); Fourth, what else may be needed to address the needs of future clients. Lastly, give your personal reflections on the website you visited (give at least three favorable/unfavorable impressions of the site you visited).
