You identify relevant stakeholders from research on websites, social and interactive media sources. Guiding Questions for WebQuest
What is the background of the issue? How did the issue come about?
Who are the relevant stakeholders involved in the issue? Why is it important to them?

What policy strategies have been used to address the issue (i.e. legislation, regulations, lawsuits)
Is there a current piece of legislation or regulation under consideration that would address the issue? Who supports it? Who opposes it? Why? (how would it impact them?)
Process
Research the Web to answer the above guiding questions. Learn as much as possible about the issue (this is fondly referred to in the policy world as doing your homework). You may wish to explore relevant websites, journals, newspapers or other media outlets. The information you obtain to complete the matrix will help you to prepare policy brief and testimony assignments.

Describe the policy (new or extant) and/or amendment to an existing policy or policy
implementation guidance you wish to focus on?
I will be doing my policy proposal on maternal and infant health
What problem or need necessitates the policy you are interested in using for your policy brief?
Is the problem widely recognized? What is the scope of the problem that warrants a policy
intervention?
The problem I would like to address African American women on average are 3 to 4 times more
like to die form pregnancy related causes than white women. This average raises with age.
There needs to be a policy where women of other ethnicities are covered and treated the same
as their white counterparts.
What is the legislative or statutory authority for the policy of interest or the action government
action of interest? source policy of interest or under what governmental authority does will this
fall?
This should be a national enactment. To my understanding as of now each state has their own
policies and laws implemented.
Is there a lead agency or government office/entity that will have responsibility for policy
implementation?
I believe the CDC should be the lead agency that should be responsible for policy
implementation.
