Correlational Research
Descriptive research methods are nonexperimental methods that are used to acquire information about a phenomenon or to describe the relationship between two or more phenomena. Nonexperimental methods are different from experimental methods in that they do not involve the manipulation of variables or the modification of the situation under investigation. Explain the purpose of correlational research and develop three research examples of when a correlational study would be required. Pertaining to the examples you provided, what type of information would the data/results provide? What are some of the critical issues to consider when designing and interpreting correlational research?

Sampling Designs
For an accurate estimate of the relationship between two or more variables, a descriptive study usually needs a representative sample, or a subset of the overall population being investigated. Compare and contrast the different sampling methods, providing an explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of each. Explain what is meant by sampling bias, and describe how sampling bias and representativeness of the sample can affect the generalizability of a studys findings. Use the Krosnick (1999) article to support your discussion.
