Your sources must present actual research studies that correspond to the problem or background of your selected topic area. Your Final Paper must address the following:

Topic Description
Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD is a trauma-related condition that affects people
who have experienced traumatic situations at one point in their lives, especially war veterans
(Department of Veterans Affairs, 2010). PTSD has been studied for a long time, and today, there
are several treatment options for its patients. Several factors cause PTSD and influence its
severity, such as the extent of exposure to distress, severity of injury, loss of a loved one in
combat, anxiety and frustration due to lack of help, as well as uncontainable thoughts of the
traumatic event. This discussion presents the outcome of different treatment interventions for
PTSD, and their effectiveness. Although any person who has had a distressing experience can
have PTSD, this research issue is specifically focused on war veterans.
Many studies have been carried out to examine different intervention and treatment
methods for PTSD patients. Since the disorder mostly affect army veterans, researchers typically
use samples of veteran populations to conduct their investigations. Military medicine scholarly
journals are examples of resources for PTSD information among veterans, as well as those that
specialize in psychology and traumatic stress. There are two main types of treatment methods
that these research studies explore; psychotherapy and medication methods. Psychotherapy is a
crucial treatment procedure for PTSD patients, and it includes eye movement desensitization and
reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy and cognitive therapy. On the other hand, medications
help in improving the symptoms of the disorder, and they include antidepressants, prazosins and
