Oil Workers Union
—-tear off here, fold portion above to make nameplate——————————————————————————You lead the most powerful union in Misericordia, which represents 75% of the workforce in the oil producing region of Enclavia.
You have been on strike for some time, demanding higher wages, increased benefits, better environmental protection and worker
safety, as well as a drastic increase in oil production to generate more jobs. The ruling MCPDR has discouraged the oil companies
from extracting too much oil too quickly in order to avoid an early depletion of the countrys reserves. Your strike has crippled the oil
economy. Emboldened by your impact, your members, who are mostly Kreten and Muslim, have demanded that the stakes be raised
and that the strike continue until Enclavia is granted independence as an Islamic Republic. You and the other leaders of the Oil
Workers Union would most probably assume power in the new state, and would rule according to Islamic shari`a law. If successful,
you plan to nationalize the oil industry. You are ethnically Kreten.

Misericordia
—-tear off here, fold portion above to make nameplate——————————————————————————Your members have not been paid since the oil strike began and cut off the man source of government revenue. Moreover, many of
your members were downsized in a structural adjustment plan, and there is talk of more reductions to come. Morale is obviously
very low and your members have taken to the streets with increasing regularity in recent months. Your members would like the
National Conference to provide some job security to public servants, guarantee regular cost of living adjustments, hire back some laid
off state employees, and incorporate economic and social rights into a new constitution.
Personally, you are Rakabite and come from a very poor background and make almost no money working for this organization. Your
elderly parents and your siblings live in a part of the country that has suffered two years of famine, and they have been sending word
for two months that they desperately need money to buy food. Last week you learned that you mother has fallen ill, but does not have
the money to travel the 30-kilometer journey to see the doctor. You are already massively in debt, and have no idea how you can help
your family.

Peasant Alliance of Misericordia
—-tear off here, fold portion above to make nameplate——————————————————————————You represent a coalition of peasant organizations from across the country. Your members are mostly poor, own little or no land and
work with the simplest of hand tools. Access to education, good housing, clean water, health care, and in some cases even passable
roads and reliable electricity is very poor in the rural areas. In the coastal, marshy regions, malaria is widespread, killing one out of
seven newborn children. In West Zlegmia, your members are treated as serfs — they have no control over their own land, cannot
relocate without permission of their noble protector and must farm four days a week on his personal fields. You have come to the
conference to explain that conditions in the countryside are unacceptable and that the rural majority of the population need a much
greater share of government investment funds and need land reform, especially in West Zlegmia. You and your members are strongly
opposed to independence for West Zlegmia because it would simply increase the power of the noble protectors. The best chance for
a better life for ordinary Zlgm peasants (in contrast to the elites and intellectuals in the Zlgm political and guerrilla organizations) lies
with a strong central state in Dar al Kalib that can break the back of the semi-feudal aristocracy in that region.

—-tear off here, fold portion above to make nameplate——————————————————————————You represent the largest labor union in Misericordia, with 2.5 million members. Your members have tended to avoid strikes and
confrontations over wages and benefits, limiting your protests to quality of workplace issues like new furniture in employee
cafeterias and free hats at annual company picnics. But thanks to an influx of younger workers, very stagnant wages in the last

your union has become more active in the last year. Indeed, it played a major role in the strikes that led up to the National
Conference. Unless you receive clear cut guarantees of a 100% increase in the minimum wage, assurance that the leader of your
union (you) will serve as Minister of Economic Planning in a new government, and a state-financed health-plan for retired workers,
then you will walk out of the Conference and continue the crippling strike.

Misericodia Representative,
International Brotherhood of
Haberdashers
—-tear off here, fold portion above to make nameplate——————————————————————————You are the leader of the Misericordia chapter (5000 members) of a worldwide union that organizes and represents Haberdashers in
143 countries. The union, based in Salzburg, near the world-renowned mens accessory and hat producing Austiran Alps, is a rich and
powerful international organization. It is well financed by the estate of former US President Harry Truman, and by a rich guild that
organizes a large caste of Indian hat makers, the highest of the untouchable castes in India. The International Brotherhood of
Haberdashers (IBH) has been trying to organize the esteemed Misericordian haberdashery sector for many decades. They have been
blocked by the royal family, the MCPDR and even by local haberdashers, who fear international competition and cutthroat pricing
from cheap, imported baseball caps. Many Miseridcordian hat and accessory makers see the IHB as a tool to open the Misericordian
market to imports, and not an association to establish international collective bargaining for better wages and working conditions for
haberdashers in every country.
You come from a poor Tiganam-ke background, and have a large extended family back home that depends on you sending significant
parts of your modest income to them on a monthly basis. Many children are named after you back home thanks to your continuous
efforts to send what ever support you can. Your parents were Maoist activists, affiliated with the Gleaming Escalator movement, but
killed in a skirmish with MCPDR forces a little over a decade ago. You are courteous, correct and professional, but the pain of your
loss is intense, and your grudge against the ruling military junta is deep. It threatens to burst through your calm an collected exterior
at any moment.
In spite of your radical family origins, you are uncomfortable with extremist tactics and prefer to find ways to collaborate and
compromise with political adversaries whenever possible (this is why your personal grudge with the MCPDR is so out of character
with your professional persona). For example, you are keen to strike a deal between Tiganam-ke shepherds and Rakabite
haberdashers regarding fair prices for raw materials and steady supplies for artisans. But this, combined with your affiliation with the
IBH and your own ethnic origin, has earned you the enmity of extremist Rakabite haberdashers. You have found several impaled
buzzards on your doorstep and outside your office, a traditional Rakabite symbol of challenge, the equivalent in some circles to a
death threat.
