Biogeography of the Sierra Nevada
At 400 miles in length and 60 miles wide, the Sierra Nevada are the “backbone” of California.
Within this mountain range exist a variety of plant communities, climates, and ecological habitats.
Most of the species variation occurs within specific elevation zones of the western and eastern Sierra.
