Part 1. 2500 word assignment. Students are required to
choose a topic and explain why it is important to nursing prac-
tice. Find a relevant guideline/pathway/framework. Describe
the evidence that the guidance is based upon. Consider addi-
tional evidence related to the topic. Analyse how the evidence
works in relation to nursing practice: how it is applied, the
strength of the evidence, the barriers that prevent it being
used, and your suggested practical solutions based on the
evidence you have considered.
Part 2.500 word portfolio of evidence. This will consist of
a summary of your literature searching approach and a reflec-
tion on how these skills will improve your future evidence-
based practice.

The marking criteria for the assessment is as follows:
A rationale is provided for the clinical topic of choice.
