Individual Project Assignment 6 (IPA 6): Ch 14 Cross-Tabulation & t-test
File Format: Word document only.
Your IPA must be completed individually by yourself.
1. Create Cross-tabulation Tables (2.5 pts). See pp. 396-398 in textbook.
Browse the NBA 2018-2019 regular season webpage
(http://espn.go.com/nba/standings) and look at the numbers in HOME and AWAY
columns.
A) Pick any two teams EXCEPT Golden Gate Warriors (sorry I know most of you
love this team ?) and for each team create a Game Location (home vs. away)
x Game Result (won vs. lost) contingency table.
B) Covert each contingency table to a percentage cross-tabulation table.
C) Briefly discuss which teams game results are more heavily influenced by
game locations?
2. Conduct a univariate t-test (2.5 pts). See pp. 403-407 in textbook and watch my
video.
Choose either 2A or 2B to work on! Both 2A and 2B involve a univariate t-test.
Hence, DO NOT work on both.
2A: Suppose a Pizza-In store manager believes the average number of customers
who order take-out is 18 per day. The store gathers a sample of data by recording
the number of take-out orders for each of the 24 days it was open during a given
month. The mean is calculated to be 20, and the standard deviation to be 4.8. Does
the number of take-out orders differ from 18 per day? Follow the steps below.
2B: Leslie is in charge of the customer complaints at her company. According to her
past few years of experience, the average number of customer complaints is 27.5
per week. In order to see whether or not her company received fewer complaints

number of complaints as 24.7 and standard deviation as 3.8. Is the number of
complaints different from 27.5 per week? Follow the steps below.
1.

4.
5.
State an appropriate null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.
