INSS220 MSU Datasets Graphs And Calculations Homework Help The information you will need is uploaded it is an excel chart and it is about datasets and we have to construct graphs and do calculations. Part 1 (based on chapters 1, 2 and 3)
Due Sunday, March 3
Project grading criteria / Rubric:
This is the first part of the project which requires to use descriptive statistics techniques covered
in chapters 2 and 3. This part is worth 65 points and will be graded based on 2 categories:
calculations and conclusions. You should submit an Excel file with your calculations and Word
file with answers to the questions.
Calculations category measures your ability to construct charts and graphs and calculate
numerical measures. You can earn up to 30 points in the category.
Conclusions category grades your ability to understand data, select appropriate charts and
measures, interpret the results given in form of charts and numerical measures. This category is
worth 35 points. You are expected to write at least 2-3 sentences per question.
Dataset description:
A company wants to analyze performance of one of its suppliers to understand should they
continue to work with the supplier in the future. Information about several last orders received
from the supplier was collected. The following measures of the supplier performance were used:
?
?
?
?
?
?
Percent defective shows what percent of items received from the supplier were defective;
Delivery timeliness is measured as early, on-time, or late delivery;
Price per unit of product;
Order size
Quantity received is the percentage of the ordered quantity which was actually received;
Accuracy measures how the order was fulfilled. It can be one of the five options: “Very
accurate” (5 points), “Accurate” (4 points), “Neutral” (3 points), “Inaccurate” (2 points),
and “Very inaccurate” (1 points).
Please, answer the questions below based on the information provided. If some of required
information is not given to you, you can/should make an assumption.
Question:
The goal of this part of the project is to learn how to use descriptive statistics to summarize
information and draw conclusions. Using the given dataset, answer the following questions:
1
1. Is it a sample or a population? Why?
2. Is it time series or cross-sectional data? Why?
3. What are elements, variables, and observations in the dataset?
4. Define a type of each variable in the dataset (ordinal, nominal, interval or ratio).
5. Choose one qualitative variable from your dataset and construct a chart (anyone
appropriate) to summarize information about the variable. Describe what you see on the
chart (2-3 sentences/points).
6. Choose one quantitative variable from your dataset and construct a chart (anyone
appropriate) to summarize information about the variable. Describe what you see on the
chart (2-3 sentences/points).
7. Choose another variable (variables used in questions 5 and 6 CANNOT be used) from
your dataset and calculate 2 numerical measures to summarize information about the
variable. Discuss the results and why this measures were used? (2-3 sentences/points).
8. Choose any 2 variables (can be previously used) from your dataset and analyze
relationship between variables (use appropriate forms of descriptive statistics; charts,
numerical measures, etc.). Are these variables related? Is the relationship linear? Is the
relationship strong or weak? Explain your answers.
