Assignment: Personal Experience Reflection

Purpose:

Writing a personal reflection provides you the opportunity to examine a concept at a personal level. In this activity, you will examine your personal experiences as a writer by writing about your successes and challenges with writing.

Directions:

• Click on the iTunes U Podcast: “How to Crush Writer’s Block” from Two Guys On Your Head (Links to an external site.) by Dr. Art Markman & Dr. Bob Duke.
• As you listen to the podcast, think about the concept of writer’s block in writing and compare ideas from the podcast to ideas from Flowers’ article you read in a previous assignment. (Written summary of Podcast. (Links to an external site.))
• Using what you have learned about yourself as a thinker and writer in this unit, write a 350-450 word personal reflection about your personal experiences with writing. In your writing, discuss both your successes and challenges as they relate to your writing experiences. Make sure you provide details about what those successes and challenges have been and how they have affected you as a writer in the past and today. Your reflection needs to be reflective, thoughtful and complete.
• Since this is a personal reflection writing, it should be written in first person.
