The Purpose of Education

I’m studying and need help with a English question to help me learn.

Directions:

For our first unit of this course, we will be discussing educational barriers. I will talk more about what I mean when I say “educational barrier” next week, but for now, I want us to consider the purpose of education, and to do so, I want us to read Martin Luther King Jr.’s text by the same name.

Step 1:

Carefully read through and annotate “The Purpose of Education” text below.

Step 2:

Answer the following questions. Your answers should be clear and detailed. Each answer should be a a minimum of 150 words long.

1. In your own words, what is the purpose of education? Why is it important to get an education?
2. How would you summarize Dr. King Jr.’s argument? What are some of the things he said that stood out to you most?
3. How does Dr. King Jr.’s text relate to your experience in education so far?
