I’m trying to study for my History course and I need some help to understand this question.

RESPONSE 1

The Chicano movement was a movement that hold dear to a lot of people in the southern side of California because there is a lot of our older relatives that actually participated throughout this time in history or at least have lived throughout this time where there fight for justice of our people was put on the line in order for the betterment of the future of, well us. Although most of our ancestors are not from here the Chicano movement helped out all the future generations. This fight was for some human rights that everyone should not have to march for like ” denied access to economic and educational opportunities” (Corbett et al., 2017, 877) since there was such an injustice in how there was no representation for children and adults as well who were trying to get into the same playing field as children that were born into wealth. The 14th amendment was to have reached all types of working people in order for there to be a leveled playing field with comes in for the natural rights that should be available to all people of walking life because its a natural right to have the ability to maintain a freedom in a country that shouts out for freedom. The board were still signifying the children, American children ” ruled that segregating children of Hispanic descent was unconstitutional”(Corbett et al., 2017, 877) which at the time was unconstitutional and should have always been illegal to try any child of any race that way because of something that they are not able to control or even have a say after. There were many fight for many reasons but the man that is still in many memories was Cesar Chavez because he really did put an imagine of a hard working man that really sought to give his people the time of day and sought to have his people freed from the injustice of those who have power and are using that power to deem others of a different race unworthy of naturally born rights. Although the 1960’s was a while ago, the things that many of those that did something helped out our generation.

RESPONSE 2

The Chicano Movement was known to be the equivalent to the Black Power Movement among Mexican Americans. This movement arose due to the high demand for Latino recognition in the United States because of the racial discrimination of Mexican Americans. Such recognitions include an increase in political power, cultural recognition in the education system, and restoration of land taken after the Mexican-American War in 1848. This event is related to the film “Walk Out” where students from East La decided to walk out of school during the semester to protest against the education systems discrimination towards low-income Latino students. In addition, students were being targeted as criminals and delinquents by police officers and portrayed as bad individuals by the media.

Cesar Chavez was one of America’s greatest influencers for Mexican-Americans to begin protesting against corruption in the United Farm Workers who went on a hunger strike to protest against grape farming. His nonviolent philosophy encouraged others to make a change without creating drama or influencing riots.
