History Medieval Spain paper

I don’t understand this History question and need help to study.

This essay should be 8 pages total: 4 pages for Part I & 4 pages for Part II

For Part I, the literary work which should be selected is “Fuente Ovejuna” and all four questions of question #1 should be answered in the essay.

12 Font, doubled space, 1-inch margins. It can certainly be shorter than that (but not too short).

Part I.

Select one of the following literary works: Lazarillo de Tormes, The Swindler, The Trickster of

Seville, Fuente Ovejuna, Life is a Dream or Don Quixote (the latter for the honors’ section) Attempt to answer the following questions:

Question 1

1. Provide a very short summary of the plot (no more than half a page).

2. Tell me what the salient themes in this literary work are.

3. Analyze two or three of these themes and explain how they reflect the culture, values,

politics, social and economic structures of early modern Spain. You are using these texts as

primary sources. Therefore, your use of them should answer the question: What do they tell you

about the history of Spain?

4. Place these works within a specific historical context.

Part II.

C. What happened to Spain in the early seventeenth century? Was there a decline? What was the

nature of the decline? What were the causes of the collapse of Spain? Knowing what you do

about the reforms of the catholic Monarchs, why did Spain almost disintegrate in 1640?

Illustrate your points with specific examples from the textbooks and lecture. Think critically.

I included the pdf of the textbook “Spanish Society” which will be the main text needed for Part II of this assignment. The pdf file of “Fuente Ovejuna” is also attached for the literary work needed for Part I.
