Can you help me understand this Law question?
Below are the instructions for your first assignment. Make sure to review the material on ethics before you complete this assignment.
Please submit this typed assignment via the dropbox by 9/20, 11:59pm. Follow the below order by numbering each section as I have below. I have also added Turnitin for a plagiarism review. This will also cross-reference with others in the course, as well as previously submitted assignments, so please do not work together. Any Turnitin score over 30% will result in a failure. Do not use direct quotes, as this increases your Turnitin score. This assignment is worth 100 points. You must list the word count after each section and a reference list at the end. The breakdown is below.
1. In a minimum of 200 words, describe the design of one of the following chosen studies- Tearoom Trade Study, Stanford Prison Experiment, Milgram’s Obedience Study, Unit 731 Experiments, Tuskegee Syphilis or the Nazi Human Experiments- and the controversies surrounding their methods and results. (WORTH 15 POINTS)
2. In a minimum of 100 words, identify three ethical issues associated with the chosen study. Use bullet points and list them. (WORTH 15 POINTS)
3. In a minimum of 300 words, redesign the study in a manner that would comply with human subject protections. As an example, redesign the study in a way that would remove the ethical flaws you listed above. So, as an example, Milgram’s purpose and research question were to examine how and why people follow orders and are obedient. How would you redesign that study to still answer the same research question and use the same sample, but do so in accordance with the human subjects protections outlined in the Belmont report. Be specific. (WORTH 50 POINTS)
4. In a minimum of 150 words, Provide a statement as to how your redesigned study complies with the Belmont Report and human subject protections. (WORTH 20 POINTS)
Grading Rubric:
1) Turnitin Score cannot be over 100
2) Subtract 5 points for no word count
3) Subtract 5 points for no reference list. If using weblinks, a working weblink is required. Do not use Wikepedia
4) Subtract 5 points for grammatical and spelling errors- must edit and proofread
5) If word count is not achieved, subtract the % that they have missed. Example, if you write 100 words for a 20 point question and the minimum is 200, you will automatically lose 10 points just for the missing words. Then any subtractions necessary for substance.
6) Describe the study- what the researchers did, IV and DV, the methodology, the sample, the subjects, duration and why the study is controversial (15 points)
7) Three ethical issues bulleted with the study you have chosen, 5 points each (15 points)
8) Redesign out the Flaws- Using the ethical issues you have documented above, redesign the study to no longer have these drawbacks. So, for instance, if one of the flaws was that subjects did not know what the study was about, implement informed consent in your study. You should have a minimum of three changes to your study because you have identified three flaws. This is the bulk of this assignment and carries the most points, so document each change in detail (50 points).
9) Now describe how what you did in the question above, fixes the errors that existed in the study previously. How do these changes comply with the Belmont Report and how do they make your study consistent with human subjects protections. You should cover all three changes in this question (20 points).
