DATABASE Design and SQL project

For this Project you will need to design and create a database for the following company.
Pampered Pets is a business that started with Bobby Taylor walking dogs and grew to include many
other pet services. Services now include dog walking, playtime, giving medications, transportation, and
pet sitting for mainly dogs but other pets too. Many of his customers have multiple pets. With the growth
of his business the spreadsheet that he is using is becoming difficult to use so Bobby would like to turn it
into a database. The spreadsheet has two worksheets, a “Service Schedule”, and a list of “Service
Types”.
Use the sample data workbook included in the assignment link to see the way information about
Pampered Pets is currently being kept. Since this is kept by Bobby, you may find errors in this
workbook. These need to be corrected in your database. Hopefully your design will avoid these types of
errors. Be sure to state any assumptions you make about this data.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Identify the entities in your database and then create a normalized ERD. The ERD should show the
Entities, Relationships, Minimum and Maximum Cardinalities, Primary and Foreign Keys, and
Attributes. Be sure to state any assumptions you are making.
2. Using your ERD design, make a SCRIPT file that will create the database using Oracle SQL. The
SCRIPT file should also add the data to the database from the workbook. You can either import the
data or enter it manually with the Insert command.
3. Think of the kind of information Bobby could use about Pampered Pets and create at least 4 queries
to gather information from the database. Include these queries in a SCRIPT file.
4. Devise a plan for the security and backup of the database. Because of the nature of this small
business, the plan does not need to be very elaborate. Keep it simple.
5. Provide a written report document that outlines your assumptions, tells why you feel your database
design will work for Pampered Pets, tells why Bobby Taylor needs the queries you created, explains
if he will need additional queries, and includes the security and backup plans you devised to keep his
data safe.
WHAT TO PUT IN THE ASSIGNMENT LINK:
You will need to submit the SCRIPT files to create the database and run the queries, the ERD, the
written report document, and any other files used by your project.
NOTE: If you do this as a group, I only need it to be submitted by one student and it must include
the names of all students in the group.
DISCUSSION BOARD:
You will use the discussion forum to tell what you did and how Pampered Pets will benefit from your
database. You will also need to respond to 3 other posts discussing the pros and cons of others
database designs. Everyone MUST participate in the Discussion Board even if you did the Project
as a group.
