Research Paper on American English

I’m studying and need help with a English question to help me learn.

Textbook for reference: American-English – [Walt-Wolfram,-Natalie-Schilling]

Paper based entirely on library research: Re-assess previously published studies/data (see “Acceptable Topics” below)

Acceptable Topics (to be substantially narrowed down and focused): Start with something you found interesting in one of assigned readings. Start your research by stating a hypothesis (or a research question) based on the author(s) cited in the assigned reading in your textbook (American-English – [Walt-Wolfram,-Natalie-Schilling]) on the area of research in which you are interested. Here are some GENERAL topics, but note that you will have to substantially narrow your topic of interest. Start with a subsection in one of the chapters listed below, and further narrow your focus.

• Genderlects
• Dialects and Style

Writing Criteria:

Good organization and careful writing are expected.

• Narrow your focus.
• Clearly state your hypothesis/research question, in your first paragraph in the introduction.
• Provide researched evidence for your claim(s). Base your work on critical examination of your sources/data.
• When appropriate, use specific examples of relevant actual linguistic expressions/data.
