I’m studying for my Philosophy class and need an explanation.
Most primates specialize in one type of food, such as fruit, leaves, or insects. What benefits might such specializations have? What costs might be associated with specialization?
Again, you should be thinking more about individuals and the relative cost and benefit to an individual in choosing a food. If you want to extend your reply to include how this helps a species evolve, through individuals adapting, that’s fine. Be very careful to maintain the distinction between an individual and a species. They are NOT THE SAME.
Chapters 5 and 6 are important resources for this discussion.
