I’m working on a English exercise and need support.
NOTE: You should review all the materials in Unit 2>>Public and Private Spaces (including the Vonnegut short story) before participating in this thread.
Consider the video about Proxemics (space) and the discussion of territorial spaces (body, primary, secondary, and public).
While the “body” space is similar for everyone, the primary, secondary, and public spaces can be different. Think about the various territories you encounter on a regular basis. Identify one or two for each category.
Then write about how you have used markers (central, boundary, earmarkers) to “claim” this space as your own. Try to describe at least one instance for each marker and territory.
Then discuss how space is viewed differently in the Vonnegut short story. How is it different than our current attitudes toward public and private space? How would you react in this situation?
Feel free to note anything else of importance you pulled from the story.
