The assessment for this module is 100% field report research into an aspect of urban tourism.
Although you may formulate your project together, and can gather your data as a group, this is
where the group work ends. You must write up your research report individually and
independently of your other group members.
The report should include a background to the project introducing your chosen location as an
urban tourism destination, the nature of urban tourism, a brief discussion of the data collection
methods used and justification for choice and a discussion of findings and conclusions. You
must submit a reference list and any appendices necessary (i.e. questionnaire, interview
questions, photographs, etc.).
You should form groups to formulate, discuss your research project and think about the process
of research design. Given the limited time for research, it is important that your project is
carefully prepared and designed before you enter the field. Although you may formulate your
project together and can gather data as a group, this is where the group work ends. You must
write your research report individually and independently.
To attain higher marks students need to achieve a critical writing style. You must establish
clear links between the primary and secondary research. Higher grades are awarded for
identifying themes and significance within the research based on academic concepts and
theories from urban tourism literature.

The final report is an individual assignment based on your field notes and the data collected in
fieldwork visit. It should include, as a minimum:

b) Literature review in relevant to chosen topic
c) Methodology
d) Results and discussion

g) Appendix (Pictures, questionnaire, result analysis table)
Students are required to submit their assignments through JIRA. Only assessments submitted
through JIRA will be marked. Any other submission including submission to your study centre
in hard copy will be treated as a non-submission.

Turnitin© or SafeAssign originality report must be submitted in conjunction with your
