Rowan College at Gloucester County The Death of Hyacinthus Artwork Essay DEVIATION FROM THESE DIRECTIONS WILL RESULT IN A FAILING GRADE:
Visit an art museum or museum of archeology* and chose 2 works of art that you could buy if you
have all the money in the world. These could be anything in the museum collection. The paper
should list the title, artist and gallery in which each work is located in the museum.
(*Please note that commercial art galleries and museums of natural history are NOT acceptable
venues).
For each work write a paragraph about why you chose it. The two choices should reflect a different
aspect of who you are; do not be redundant with your reflections. The two paragraphs you write
should reflect completely diverse aspects of your personality, a memory or something else about you.
REMEMBER: Your emphasis will be on what the work says about you, or your dreams, goals,
values, belief system, etc. Do not write formally about the art, go into detail about what it looks like,
discuss the artist or do research. The paper is completely introspective/subjective and concerns your
own deeply personal reasons for your “purchase”.
