Diablo Valley College Mass Communication & Media Impact on Personality HW EVerything is included in the guide sheet I upload! Pick 3 person you prefer to write list as 1. 2. 3. .I have to ask the teacher to sign up for this person because it might not be available.. MEDIA IMPACT: PERSONALITY PRESENTATION
Each student will give a 3-5-minute in-class presentation on a historic and/or seminal media
person, and his/her impact within the media industries and/or on society as a media figure.
Since this is a mass communication class, all presentations should focus primarily on the
media/mass communication aspects of the person’s life. For example, a presentation on Ben
Franklin might mention he was an ambassador, but would give more attention to his printing
and
publishing efforts. Note that most personalities assigned are mentioned in the course textbook.
However, to successfully complete this assignment you must do your own research and go
beyond what the textbook offers, citing at least three other sources. Note: Wikipedia is not an
authoritative academic source for citation.
Key points about the presentation
Presentations should be done “first person.” If you are assigned Ben Franklin, you should
appear as Ben Franklin and tell us about yourself. Don’t merely recite facts, but tell a story or
two or three. Appropriate costume and/or visual aids/props will garner extra credit.
Put information in context. Let us know how your person reflected the time in which they
ived. What else was going on in the world?
You should understand and have internalized your material. Though you may refer to notes,
Io not read your presentation except for a short quote or two
1 A class handout and an original detailed presentation outline, both typed, must be turned in
the instructor at the beginning of your presentation.
A bibliography should contain a minimum of three references, NOT including the textbook, of
-hich at least one must be a scholarly source (consult a librarian).

I have prepared two copies of an outline: one copy for the instructor and one for myself
I have prepared a class handout (not the outline) relevant to my presentation: one copy for the
structor and a class set of 26 to hand out
I have prepared a bibliography that has multiple sources (at least 3, not including the text)
I know the material well enough to not just read it
I have concentrated on the mass communication/media aspects of my assigned media
sonality (no superfluous information)
I have a plan to tell stories and not recite lists.
know enough about my person to respond to questions at the end of the presentation.
have prepared a costume and/or visual aids for bonus points
plan to meet my deadline and arrive early to class so I am ready to present on time.
