You have been employed in a company that advises people about their options
beyond graduation. Your supervisor has asked you to write an article of around
1500 words to be included in a journal for university students. The article should
cover the various options available to graduates stressing the long term goal of selfemployment.
Do not include your name in the assignment as it will be submitted on Blackboard.
The work must be in sentences and paragraphs, use formal English, be written in the
third person and use appropriate references as it will be published in an academic
journal. Materials should be obtained from the UCLan library and other academic

The article should start by stressing the importance of post-graduate career
planning.
The first section should cover the benefits of employment and the types of company
a graduate should look for short and long term. Small enterprises as well as large
companies should be considered in addition to private and government employment.
The second section should look at the benefits of post-graduate study. This should
consider building on the first degree as well as taking further qualifications in a
different area to change or widen knowledge.
The third section will be the largest section and will deal with self-employment.
The section should start by introducing the reader to the general concept of
