The reason I want to become a teacher is to make an impact in every kid I teacher whether it is
something small or impactful, I want them to know why I am here. Another reason is I want to
teach in a way where I am able to connect with my students. I want to know who they are,
what they are struggling with, and listen to their stories. I believe teaching isn’t limited to only
in the classroom but also outside the classroom
My experience that allow me to prepare to teach in the urban setting is my observation hours,
in which I was able to understand what is happening in school in the SFSUSD. Terence Doherty
at Lowell High School and Michael Flynn at Jefferson Elementary gave me the opportunity to
teach and participate with the kids in their classroom. The hands-on observation gave me an
understanding on what I need to know as a future educator but also a better understanding of
the students in the area of the school.
The quality that I have is my passion for this field. When it comes to passion I will always go
above and beyond on things I love to do. No matter how bad my day is going I will always give it

I will set the end of the year academic goals first by assessing the students I have for the school
year. I want to see what their capabilities are and from there create a goal in which they are
able to accomplish as a class. Before I set those goals, it is important to discuss it with the
students to understand my expectation but also their expectation for me as a teacher. I know
when my students are achieving their goals by having class discussion at the end of class, see
what they think they did good or bad.
If I have an English Learner in my class who is not meeting the class goal I will first try to
understand and relate with the student. In order for me to have a better understanding why
the student is not achieving their goal I must hear from them. I want the student to explain why
they are struggling to achieve those goals that are being set out. Then from there once I have a
better understanding I would ask the student in what way can I better assist the student to
achieve these goals. Whether it is one on one instruction after the class are doing the activity or
modification of the activities. As a teacher it is important to be flexible with the students in
order to achieve a goal.
