Assignment overview
The weekly planning reports will enable you to apply your knowledge of the processes and
strategies of events management, allowing you to get ongoing feedback to help build your
understanding and practical skills. The insights you gain from these weekly reports will be put to
use in later assignments, particularly Assignment 2: Event management plan – Parts A and B, due
in Weeks 7 and 12.

This assignment assesses the following unit learning outcomes:
1. Identify the scope and scale of events and their planning needs.
3. Critically examine the multi-faceted functions of event management from conceptualisation,
through to planning, risk management, and marketing.
4. Highlight and explain both positive and negative impacts and advance sustainability as an

Assignment details
Each week, from Weeks 2–11, you will be presented with a short question or task that will require
you to apply the knowledge and theory covered that week to the PUB30001 event scenario (the
Toyota Cruiser launch), this can be found in the Assignment 1: Additional resources page.
Reply to each of these questions/tasks taking the perspective of a project manager. Use the
knowledge you have gained from your weekly reading and especially your participation in the
online discussion activities to frame your responses.

3. Shut down.
Highlight any key and ongoing evaluation that should occur over these stages.
Note: While the due dates for these reports are staggered across the teaching period, you are
strongly advised to complete each report in the appropriate week in order to work through the unit
in a methodical fashion.

You work as a team leader at an events management company that has been contracted by Toyota.
Your team is required to plan and implement the launch event for a new Toyota Hybrid Cruiser
designed and built specifically for Australian conditions. The event will have a festival atmosphere,
including some VIP and public events and will be held over the first October weekend in 2018 at

Many dignitaries and VIPs will be in attendance, including the senior management staff from
