Metacognition Reflective Essay I need someone to help me finish the part of reflection essay about Metacognition. I will give you a sample essay about Metacognition. Metacognition:
It is empowering to be aware of my choices and my capacity to choose what
language I use to shape and fill my world. I want to utilise metacognition as a
means to develop my ideas in an artful manner, and to critically analyse
systems and discourses that I am in, through reflection on my rhetorical
choices and my composing processes. Part of metacognition is to
acknowledge my history with language and be aware of how that may affect
my rhetorical choices, such as, I am aware that I may have a writing accent,
since English is not my first language.
One way I practiced metacognition was reading carefully and analysing the
writer’s choices. By reading carefully, I can expose the author’s rhetorical
choices and tools, and enable myself as writer to use those tools in my own
writing, especially if I was going to write a piece similar in concept or structure.
I want to continue to utilize reading as a tool to further my own writing and be
able to read more critically to identify techniques I want to incorporate in my
own writing and work on formulating questions as I read. By evaluating the
effectiveness of the choices another author has made, I am more critical of
the choices I make as a writer. An example of metacognition in action is
reading the examples of reflection essays. As I read the different examples of
reflection letters, I was making notes of the choices that the writer made that
the paper move forward or made the paper more confusing, especially
because this was the type of writing I would be doing later. I decided on a
sectioned paper, to organize my thoughts, but combining that with my story
with language to emphasize my thought process and feelings of being a
student in a UWP class. In particular, I noticed that one of the examples
ended on a quote by Hemingway. While it is a lovely quote, I choose to end
my paper in my own voice because my history with language is very personal
to me.
