Consequences of Using Technologies Smartphones and Social Media Essay Essay Topic
In an essay of at least 1200 words, what are the intended and unintended consequences of using technologies such as smartphones and social media?
This is a personal discussion–personal observation and opinion–so don’t provide an academic discourse on what technology is or the history of technology. That is not what the topic is asking.
Make sure that your discussion focuses on the question being asked and not a related topic.
Instructions
Discuss this question in an essay of 1200 words. This word count does not include your name, etc. on the first page, nor the Works Cited page. It only includes the content of your essay.
Type your essay in MLA format. Review this in Module 1.
Provide 4 in-text citations of information from only the readings and videos provided in this module [no other sources allowed] in MLA format. This is explained in Module 5.
List your citations in MLA8 format on the last page of your essay in Works Cited.
The title Works Cited is centered and typed just like that. No quotation marks, no underlining, no bold.
Citing Pages and Videos in MLA format
Put the page numbers [or the location numbers if you are using the digital version of the textbook] where your examples are from in ( ) in MLA format. This is an in-text citation. So if you have an example from page 139, your example will be cited in your answer like this: (139), not (pg. 139), not (page 139), not (Pg. 139), not (p. 139). If there is no page numbering on a .pdf, then you need to put the title of the work, or the author’s name–one or the other. Do not put your own page numbers based on how many pages there are on the .pdf.
To cite the videos, just use the video title in short form:
(“Connected, But Alone”)
(“Is Google Making Us Stupid?”)
