Discussion Prompt 1: Servant Leadership
Your text laid the foundation for the concept of Servant Leadership, reflecting on the life of Christ, which was also referenced by the lecture on Followership. The author of your text, referenced a quote by Martin Luther King in which Dr. King said, “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve”. This would suggest that the ability to be a servant is within the grasp of every individual. However, when the author looked to Christ as the ultimate example of a servant leader, did he conveniently ignore the fact that Christ was killed by the very people who He was trying to serve?

What concerns or fears do you have if you truly tried to live out a management style that always put the needs of others first? Are there inherent dangers in leading from this position?
