Research Assignment 2 Introduction: Militia groups (or Cults) are bodies of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers. They can be able-bodied males eligible by law for military service. They can be a body of citizens organized in a paramilitary group and typically regarding themselves as defenders of individual rights against the presumed interference of the federal government. Take for example the Violent-apocalyptic Cults, as the text points out are the more dangerous emerging groups within the United States. This assignment fulfills/supports Module Outcome 1 Define law enforcement’s role in handling cults. Course Outcome 1 Understood critical and/or stressful incidents that require resolution. General Education Competency 1 You will have communicated effectively using the conventions of American Standard English in professional and academic environments The Assignment Research a group that has been titled a “Cult.” Provide an explanation of what they stand for and where they are located within the world. Questions to consider are: What are some of the activities they have participated in? Why are they some of the more dangerous emerging groups? Could they be considered “Domestic Terrorists?” Why do they do what they do? Is their cause justifiable? Do some people feel the group(s) should not be labeled a “dangerous emerging group?” Resources Utilize the assigned text – Chapters 10 & 11 and scholarly journals available through the FTCC Online library. Acceptable Length 3-4 pages of content Formatting Requirements Put the assignment Title, your name, course and section number, and date at the top/middle of the document (this should be on its own page). Use one-inch margins. Use a 12-point Times New Roman font. Use double line spacing in the document.
