Project Description: For this writing assignment, you will choose a specific audience that you want to persuade (one of the stakeholders you explored in Unit 2). You may not choose your classmates for this assignment, even if your issue is campus-related (that opportunity comes in the next assignment). The audience you choose should in some way be currently indifferent to or disagree with your idea or position. Now is your chance to make your pitch, crafting a persuasive argument based on your position that is tailored to the expectations, background, and beliefs of your audience. This does not mean you agree with the audience you are writing to, but that you understand where they are coming from and what they value. You may use any of the argumentative forms studied throughout the course to structure your argument, but you’ll want to think carefully about choosing a form that works for what and to whom you are arguing. For instance, if you are trying to convince religiously motivated climate change deniers that climate change is real, you probably don’t want to use a proposal argument. They aren’t interested in your solutions to climate change because they don’t believe it exists. Instead, you might want to choose a definition argument (defining the problem) or even an evaluation argument (perhaps evaluating the legitimacy of particular ideas about the relationship between humans, the environment, and religion), because doing so would allow you to construct an argument that explicitly addresses their point of view and values
