Proposal Essay Assignment | Cheap Essay Services

For your proposal essay, you may decide to focus on that same topic that you explored in the causal analysis essay, but this time you will propose a solution to the problem. The goal of a proposal essay is to persuade readers that they should implement a specific plan of action in order to solve a particular problem. To construct a successful proposal essay, you will need to provide compelling evidence for your reader in the form of facts, statistics, and examples. Proposals generally follow the organizational pattern described below: Thesis statement that asks the audience to take a course of action or adopt a particular position Explanation of the problem and what causes the problem Detailed description of the proposed solution Notes about the feasibility of the solution Explanation of the outcome or consequences of the proposed solution The proposal essay and a note on style: When you write your essay, you will want to avoid the personal pronoun “I.” Learning to eliminate personal pronouns (I/me/my/you/we/our) from your writing now will prepare you for other Composition essays and forms of academic writing. Introduction, topics, and thesis Make sure you write on a topic from the list below: How can the United States lessen its dependence on fossil fuels? What can be done to improve the college graduation rate? How can a city promote the use of public transportation? What can be done to promote better health for the American population? What can be done to address the problem that you discussed in your causal analysis essay (Task 3)? Be clear about the problem and provide background information that leads to the thesis. The thesis should convey the problem, solution, and feasibility of the solution or how it will work. The two examples below are useful thesis templates for the proposal essay: An effective way to address the problem of _______________ is to do __________, _______________, and __________________. OR The problem is ________________, and the best ways to solve this problem are _____________, ________________, and ____________________. Structuring the body paragraphs The body paragraphs should state clearly the reasons for your proposal. You should offer evidence to support your recommendations and convince your reader that your proposed solution adequately addresses the problem. Don’t forget to provide a discussion of the feasibility of your proposal: address issues of practicality, cost, or any other factor that may make your audience decide against your proposal. Below is a useful outline for structuring the body of the proposal essay: Explain the significance of the problem and detail the problem (this can be a paragraph right after your introduction). Explain how the first solution you list in the thesis will resolve the problem. Explain how the second solution you list in the thesis will resolve the problem. Explain how the third solution you list in the thesis will resolve the problem. Your body paragraphs should detail all the solutions proposed in your thesis points and explain to your reader why they will be effective. Introduce evidence to support the point, give the evidence, and explain how the evidence supports the main claim. For more information on constructing the body of the essay, review the “Optional reading” section at the bottom of this page. Remember, too, that this essay asks you to incorporate at least three sources in your body paragraph. Cite your sources using APA in-text citations. For help with APA, see Appendix B. Conclusion The essay should end with a conclusion that restates the thesis, summarizes the significance of the problem, and reiterates the main points of the argument. Do not introduce any new information in the conclusion. For helpful information and videos on the introduction, thesis, and conclusion, and for more information on organizing, outlining, and drafting an essay, review the “Optional reading” section at the bottom of this page. Reference page At least three sources should be cited on your reference page. It’s important that you have 1:1 correspondence in your paper. This means that every time you use an in-text citation to cite a source, that same source must appear on the reference page at the end of your paper. Similarly, if you include a source on your reference page, that same source must appear at least once as an in-text citation in your paper.

Students as a cause of low college graduation rate

A major cause of the low college graduation rate is the students themselves. There are negative causes that make students less engaged in their academics. Academic performance is a crucial thing that students ought to always consider in the University. Students who attain low grades have a high probability of dropping out of college than those who perform better. In addition, in some cases, some students are not well prepared for the college curriculum while in high school. This causes the students to pursue degrees that they are not interested in at all, which leads to the students dropping college education along the way. Moreover, students with disciplinary problems are likely to be expelled from the colleges, leading to low college graduation rates. Discipline issues may include bullying other students, leading in college strikes, and failure to abide by the rules and regulations outlined by the college. Also, the student’s absenteeism leads to college drop out. When students are absent, they miss classes, and therefore, they are inadequately prepared to sit for exams. In some colleges, there are strict rules on truancy that leads to students leaving colleges before graduation. In addition, some students face financial constraints in colleges. They are not able to cater for their needs in school as well as pay their college fees. This causes the students to drop out or put their education on hold and look for a job where they can earn money for their school fees and upkeep. Therefore, students end up being less committed to their academic work, resulting in poor academic performance and later dropping out of college education.

School as a cause of low college graduation rate

These are factors that occur daily in school. They include school structures and activities within the day. If the school does not find a way of keeping the students in school, then a low graduation rate is likely to be experienced. One of the major causes under school as a factor is the school environment. School environments include the school vision, teacher-student contact, disciplinary policy, educational leaders, and school structure. Worldwide, most students have visions that are not in line with the visions laid out by the colleges or the universities they study from. Therefore, the students opt out of the college since what they need cannot be met by the college offers. In addition, the teacher-student relationship has been proven as a significant factor in the successful completion of college studies. Teachers act as mentors to college students, and they try to understand the students’ predicaments. If the relationship is broken, the teacher would not understand the students’ predicaments that render them feeling hopeless and powerless. When students feel hopeless, they opt to leave college, leading to a low college graduation rate. Also, education leaders play a significant role in inspiring and encouraging students to finish their college education. However, this is not the case because most educational leaders treat college students as adults who can make decisions for themselves. When students lack support from educational leaders, college education becomes irrelevant, leading to low graduation rates. In addition, there are inadequate counselors to cater to students’ needs.  For instance, in the United States, there is mostly only one certified counselor to attend to 500 students in all the schools.

Consequently, the counselor ends up being overwhelmed by the duties he or she has to complete. Therefore, it is difficult to give enough time for each student (Moore, 2017). Moreover, school structure plays a great role in successful college graduation rates. When students feel that the school’s environment is unsafe, uninspiring, and unconducive for learning, most of them will opt out of college education, leading to low graduation rates in colleges.

Family as a cause for low college graduation rate

Family plays a significant role in the successful completion of college studies. However, the family has increasingly become a major cause of the low college graduation rate. One of the major causes is the family environment. Students from dysfunctional families, for instance, lack of parental support and parental education, are more likely not to finish college studies. In addition, students from families with a history of drug and substance abuse are less likely to graduate from college. Family poverty is a key contributor to low college graduation rates, especially in third world countries. Many parents work blue-collar jobs to cater for their daily needs. Students opt to drop college education and begin working to assist the parents in paying the bills. Also, family history plays a major role. Parents who never completed college studies are more likely to have children dropping out of college because they are considered as major role models to their children.

Furthermore, due to large families, especially in African countries, college students sacrifice their education so that other siblings can access basic education, leading to a low college graduation rate. This happens in cases where the parents have many children but are not capable of paying the school fees. Also, in cases where the parents are not interested in the students’ progress at the college level, they may lose interest in college education, thereby leading to low college graduation rate. Moreover, students who engage in extra-curricular activities like football always view their teams and clubs as ‘family.’ If the ‘family’ does not offer enough financial support, it will lead to students dropping college studies, leading to a low college graduation rate.

Community as a cause of low college graduation rate

Community plays a major role in successful college education for students. However, some cases have resulted in unsuccessful college graduation rates, including social class, culture, community support, and community environment. Some cultures, especially in developing countries, have very low occurrences of academic achievement in their communities. In such cases, students are less likely to graduate from their college education. There is a belief that education does not pay. Some believe that having many assets like cows and sheep is enough to become successful. Some communities value their traditions and cultures more than education.  They, therefore, have less focus on education. Furthermore, some communities believe that girls should not go to school; rather, they should be married and bear children (Strumbos & Kolenovic, 2016). When communities do not value education, they can be a major contributor to low college graduation rates.

In conclusion, a college degree is considered to have important benefits to society and individuals. It is a major drawback when a student drops out of college or is unable to complete the studies. This essay has focused on some things that lead to low college graduation rates that are student-based, family-based, community based, among other many reasons. The student is responsible for ensuring that he or she concentrates fully on her or his academic achievements. The college management should always ensure that the college environment is favorable for students to continue their studies. Without a doubt, parents and families should always be supportive when their children are in school. They should ensure that school fees are always available and that the students do not drop out to look for money. Moreover, since the students are young, they continuously need guidance from parents and older people regarding their academics. The community should also not be left behind. Everyone needs to prioritize education. However, when all these causes are not addressed, then the graduation rates in colleges drop.
