However, the main objective of the paper is for you to express your conceptualization of what a targeted area of counseling is and the counselor’s role in it. The student may choose to focus on any of the following: Mental Health and Community Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Career Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Geriatric Counseling, School Counseling, or Counseling in Colleges and Universities. Other specialty areas in counseling may be considered, but the student must obtain permission from the instructor to cover any subject not listed.
