BPM is all about the efficient and effective management of business processes. There is no simple test for when a Business Process Management (BPM) project is appropriate. There can be many different drivers and triggers, whose categories include organization, management, employees, external customers, suppliers and partners, product and service issues, processes, and information technology. Each organization will have to determine what number and combination of these drivers and triggers are its signal to start a BPM project. The central component of these business processes is people, who will determine the success or failure of any BPM project. It is essential, therefore, to consider people, the organizational culture, and how process improvement can be institutionalized when planning any BPM project. To prepare, read the course text chapters, as well as the McKendrick article assigned in this week’s Learning Resources. Use the McKendrick article as the framework for this Discussion. Post by Day 3: Under what circumstances do you think BPM should be implemented as a department-wide initiative? Explain why. How do you know when BPM should be implemented? Also, post under what circumstances you think BPM should be implemented as a company-wide initiative and explain why. Include whether organizations will be more or less likely to engage in BPM activities in the near future and explain why.
